📚 Write Like a Pro with AI

In today's world, whether you are a marketer drafting newsletters, a project manager documenting processes, or a writer seeking to engage your audience, the ability to communicate your ideas effectively is essential.

The Problem

The reality is that not everyone is a natural wordsmith. Transforming abstract thoughts into polished prose can be a significant challenge, resulting in frustration and unsatisfactory results.

What Have We Tried

To overcome this, we used Lex, an advanced AI writing tool that uses natural language processing and machine learning to support users at every stage of the writing process.

0. Getting Started : Generating first Draft

To create your first piece of text, complete the questions that show up as detailed as possible. This will already help you get out of the blank page moment and provide you with an outline to start editing.

1. Intelligent Assistance: AI Run Checks

Get instant, in-line feedback on grammar, style, and readability.

How to use “Checks”:

1. Click the "Checks" button in the toolbar under Commands

2. Select which checks to run (style, clarity, grammar)

3. Review highlighted suggestions that appear in your text

You can then use the chat called “Ask Lex” which, unlike standard AI chats, it understands your entire document without copy-pasting.

How to use “Ask Lex”:

1. Click the chat icon in the right sidebar (or press Cmd+/)

2. Ask any question about your content, such as:

   • "Suggest a more engaging introduction"

   • "Help me make this section more concise"

   • "Rewrite this paragraph for a technical audience"

💡 Pro tip: These features work best together; use checks to spot issues, then use Ask Lex for more substantive revisions.

2. Personalized Context: Tags & Prompts

Another feature is “Context Tags” which serve as repositories of information that your AI assistant can reference during conversations.

There are two types of information in a context tag:

1. Attachments - to give the AI background information or writing samples to better understand the writing you’re doing and how AI can help

2. Instructions - to help the AI better understand how you’d like it to use the attachments you’ve added

How to use it:

• Find Prompt Builder on the left bar

• Create a context tag with specific requirements:

EXAMPLE
Brand: AI Academy
Audience: Working professionals implementing AI in workflows
Goal: Show demo's and encourage readers to try the newest tools
Style: Professional but conversational, active voice 

💡 Pro tip: Create your own custom prompts with the Prompt Builder for recurring writing tasks.

3. Version Security: Never Lose Your Best Work

Lex also offers two complementary ways to protect and manage your document history:

1. Rewind: Time-travel through your document's evolution. Drag the timeline slider to view every change and restore previous versions with a click.

2. Versions: You can create a version manually at any point by clicking the version dropdown in the top left of the document, and then clicking the “Create version” button.

4. Collaboration Features

Finally, Lex offers collaboration features that help you share your work with anyone who has the permissions. It allows you to:

• Work simultaneously with teammates, seeing everyone's changes instantly.

• Add feedback directly to specific text, with threaded replies.

• Set custom access levels for different team members.

💡 Pro tip: To avoid distractions while you're working, you can set a focus session on Lex. This will prevent any interruptions for the duration you specify using the timer on the left bar.
