How we use ChatGPT and Perplexity to build content strategies
Reading Time: 4 minutes
Hello AI Enthusiast,
Today, we're exploring how AI can revolutionize your SEO keyword research process. We'll show you how we used AI tools to discover and analyze keywords for AI Academy, and how you can apply the same techniques to your business.
The Problem
SEO keyword research traditionally involves hours of manual work: brainstorming topics, checking search volumes, analyzing competition, and organizing data. Even with traditional SEO tools, it's time-consuming to:
Generate comprehensive keyword lists that capture all relevant search intents
Identify emerging trends and long-tail keywords
Understand the competitive landscape for each keyword
Prioritize which keywords to target first
What's your biggest challenge with keyword research? |
How We Did It Step-by-Step
We'll show you how we combined ChatGPT and Perplexity to streamline our keyword research process for AI Academy's content strategy.
Step 1: Initial Keyword Discovery with ChatGPT
First, we used ChatGPT to generate an initial set of keyword ideas, hereโs the prompt:
I run an AI education platform called AI Academy. We offer courses and training about artificial intelligence, focusing on practical applications and business use cases. Help me brainstorm potential SEO keywords and topics, including:
- Main keywords
- Long-tail variations
- Related topics
- Questions people might ask
Organize them by search intent (informational, commercial, etc.)
๐ก Try to compare the results of different models. We found o3-mini, with the inclusion of the search functionality, to provide more detailed and complete answers.
This gave us a broad foundation of keywords aligned with different user intents.

Step 2: Trend Analysis with Perplexity
Next, we used Perplexity to understand current trends and validate our keywords through this prompt:
What are the most searched topics and questions about AI education and training in 2025? Focus on business applications and professional development.
Perplexity's real-time data helped us identify emerging trends and validate the popularity of our keyword ideas.

Step 3: Synthesizing Findings with ChatGPT
Later we used ChatGPT to analyze and prioritize our findings from both tools by using this prompt:
I have keyword research data from two sources:
1. Initial keyword ideas:
[Paste ChatGPT results]
2. Current trends data:
[Paste Perplexity insights]
Help me:
1. Cross-reference these findings
2. Identify the most promising keywords based on:
- Search intent alignment with our business
- Current trending topics
- Potential business value
3. Group them into primary and secondary keywords
4. Suggest content clusters around the main themes
Format the output as a structured keyword strategy.
This step helped us create a focused list of keywords that combines market research with current trends.

Step 4: Competitive Analysis with AI
We then used a prompt in ChatGPT to analyze the competitive landscape:
For these keywords related to AI education, help me understand:
- Approximate difficulty to rank
- Types of content currently ranking
- Content gaps or opportunities
Base your analysis on SEO best practices.
Then, based on your analysis, give me a shortlist of 15 keywords to target
Keywords:

Step 5: Content Planning and Optimization
Finally, we created a content strategy based on our findings:
