AI in the fragrance industry
Hello AI enthusiast,
At AI Academy, our mission is to create awareness and understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its potential applications. We aim to show how AI is being deployed by not only tech giants, but also traditional corporations. To demonstrate this, here is a case study of how AI is making an impact in the fragrance industry.
Symrise is a huge fragrance company that works with big names like Estee Lauder, Avon, and Donna Karan. They teamed up with IBM to create an AI tool called Phylira that can make scents that usually require years of expertise to craft. Phylira breaks down scents into individual components like oils and chemicals, and uses customer data to figure out which combos are popular. The new AI-generated scents have achieved great results in focus groups!
Recently Symrise has released Philyra 2.0, which is even better. It helps perfumers make eco-friendly and sustainable scents by suggesting new materials to use. And it's super fast, generating up to 12 different scent formulas in under a minute.
This is one of the many examples of AI applications we're gathering and the whole inventory is available in the AI Career Compass course.

What is Computer Vision?
Computer vision is a field of Artificial Intelligence that teaches computers how to see and interpret the world around us. It does this by using digital images and deep learning models to accurately identify and classify objects, just like humans do.
Facial recognition software is one example of computer vision in action. It uses computer algorithms to recognize facial features and match them to stored profiles, which can be used for everything from user tagging on social media to tracking down criminals using surveillance footage.
ποΈ AI news from the world
Google is adding new AI features to its Workspace apps like Docs, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides. These features include generating text, summarizing, and brainstorming text with AI, generating emails in Gmail based on bullet points, and producing AI images, audio, and video to use in Slides. This is a response to Microsoft's new AI chatbot Bing and OpenAI's popular ChatGPT.
