Plus: Microsoft Adds AI Agents to Office Apps

Hello AI Enthusiast,

OpenAI just dropped two major updates that point in the same direction: keeping you inside their ecosystem. They launched Sora 2 with a social app for AI-generated videos and introduced ChatGPT Pulse that delivers personalized morning updates. Meanwhile, Microsoft added AI agents to Excel and Word. Let's break down what's happening.

The Big Picture 🔊

OpenAI Launches Sora 2

OpenAI released Sora 2, their upgraded video model with better physics simulation. They use the example of missed basketball shots now bouncing off the backboard instead of teleporting to the hoop. The bigger surprise is a new social iOS app called "Sora" featuring "cameos": record yourself once, then drop into any AI-generated scene. It's invite-only, starting in the U.S. and Canada.

People already share AI content on social media without realizing it. OpenAI built a platform around this. The cameos feature could work well for influencers who want quick content without production hassle.

Most won't seek out Sora deliberately, but might drift there anyway. OpenAI's real goal is building their own ecosystem instead of depending on Meta or Google.

ChatGPT Pulse Delivers Personalized Daily Updates

OpenAI released ChatGPT Pulse for Pro users, a feature that proactively researches topics based on your chat history, feedback, and connected apps like Gmail and Calendar. Each morning, it delivers personalized updates as visual cards you can quickly scan or explore deeper. You can curate what ChatGPT researches by telling it what's useful, and updates disappear after a day unless saved.

OpenAI is building a personal assistant that acts on your behalf without you asking. The potential is real, but this could also be the final form of advertising.

Once AI accesses your data, companies might be able to pay to redirect you. For some, this could genuinely help. For others, it risks becoming invisible influence.

Microsoft Brings "Vibe Working" to Office with Agent Mode

Microsoft launched Agent Mode for Excel and Word, plus Office Agent in Copilot chat. Agent Mode handles multi-step tasks like analyzing datasets or building loan calculators in Excel, showing its work along the way. In Word, it drafts content and asks questions as you go. Office Agent creates PowerPoint decks from chat, doing web research and generating slides with live preview.

This could help people who struggle with Excel or spend hours formatting Word documents.

The problem might arise with verification: if you don't understand the formulas AI creates, how do you catch mistakes? An error in a financial model could cost millions.

AI is integrating into the tools your team uses every day. Microsoft just added AI agents to Excel and Word, and similar features are rolling out across workplace software. But having the tools doesn't mean your people know how to use them. Our Corporate AI Training teaches your team how to work alongside AI.
