๐ Bill Gates' take on AI's job impact.
Discover his vision for the future.
Hello AI enthusiast,
As you probably know, last week we launched two new programs!
We are running a short survey for people who did not join one of the programs yet to understand how we can improve our offering to serve you best. Fill it up and youโll be able to save 30โฌ on any of our AI Academy courses by only spending 2 minutes!
Hereโs the link.
Now let's dive into the meat of this newsletter.
Last week, Bill Gates published an insightful article titled "The Age of AI has begun" on his blog. We highly recommend taking five minutes to read it, but for those short on time, here are the key points.
In the article, Gates explores the current state and potential future of AI, outlining how it will impact industries such as productivity, healthcare, and education. As the cost of computing power continues to decrease, Gates predicts that AI will increasingly take over tasks such as decision-making, document handling, and communication, allowing humans to focus on other areas.
Moreover, Gates believes that AI can play a crucial role in reducing global inequities in healthcare and education by improving access to care and resources. However, there are valid concerns about the impact of AI on the job market, and the need for retraining and support for affected workers.
These concerns are what is motivating us at AI Academy to do what we do. Empowering people with AI knowledge.
Donโt worry Bill, we are taking care of this! ๐
๐ Case study: BMW
BMW is a leading global automotive company that is making great strides in the use of AI in various aspects of its business operations. Their AI technology is being implemented in multiple departments, such as R&D, Logistics, Production, Customer Service, and Building Management.
One of the most interesting applications of AI is in their R&D to optimize vehicle energy consumption. Their system considers user behavior and route information to ensure efficient energy usage that meets driver needs.
BMW is also using AI in its production for the final inspection. It compares live images of new cars with order data to ensure high-quality standards.
Another exciting example is BMW's Intelligent Personal Assistant. This feature allows drivers to control car functions using voice commands, enriching the driving experience.
Overall, BMW is leading the way in the use of AI in the automotive industry, using technology to enhance the energy efficiency, improve production quality, and create more intuitive vehicle features.
๐งฑ Foundational concepts: Natural Language Processing (NLP)
NLP is a field of AI that focuses on teaching computers to understand human language. This includes tasks like language translation, sentiment analysis, and speech recognition.
One way to think about NLP is to imagine that you're teaching a computer to understand what you're saying. For example, if you tell the computer "I want to buy a blue shirt," it needs to understand that you want to buy something, and that you want it to be a shirt, and that you want it to be blue. It also needs to be able to recognize variations of the same sentence, like "I'd like to purchase a shirt that's blue."
NLP is used in many applications today, like virtual assistants (such as Siri and Alexa), chatbots, and language translation tools.
Basically, Natural Language Processing is a powerful tool that allows computers to understand human language and communicate with us in a more natural way.
That was all for this week.
