Hello AI Enthusiast,
This week Anthropic raised the bar with Claude Fable 5, a model that can work autonomously for hours on complex tasks. Apple finally showed up to the AI party with a rebuilt Siri, though the fine print reveals it runs on Google's Gemini. And OpenAI quietly filed for an IPO, one week after Anthropic did the same. The race to go public is on.
The Big Picture 🔊
Anthropic Launches Claude Fable 5, Its Most Powerful Model Yet
Anthropic released Claude Fable 5, now state of the art across software engineering, knowledge work, vision, and scientific research. For sensitive queries touching cybersecurity or biology, the model automatically defers to Opus 4.8. A second model, Claude Mythos 5, has some safeguards lifted and is available only to a small group of security researchers through Project Glasswing. Both are priced at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Claude 5 is free on Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise plans until June 22.

We wanted to test it, but struggled to think of a use case where our current models weren't already enough. That's actually the interesting insight: models are already quite good, and the gap between Fable 5 and Opus is hard to feel unless you're doing complex, long-running software engineering work. Where people are genuinely excited is autonomous coding tasks. Give it a goal, come back hours later, and it's done without constant back-and-forth. The bigger story is the framing. Anthropic is leaning hard into "this model is too powerful for certain queries", which sounds dramatic but mostly means it routes a small percentage of requests to Opus instead. With an IPO likely coming, the narrative around Claude Fable 5 is doing a lot of work. The model is good. Whether it's a whole new category or a very strong upgrade is a harder question. |
Anthropic is shipping models that code autonomously for hours, but most companies are still figuring out basic AI use. There's a huge gap between having AI tools and actually knowing how to work with them. Our Corporate AI Training helps bridge that gap, teaching teams where AI adds real value versus where it creates more work.
Apple Rebuilds Siri on Gemini Models
Apple announced a redesigned Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, built in collaboration with Google and based on Gemini models. New capabilities include on-screen awareness, system-wide actions across apps, web-sourced answers, and a dedicated app that syncs conversation history across devices. Visual intelligence is also expanding to iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro. The update is in developer beta now, with a broader English rollout later this year. It will not launch in the EU or China initially due to regulatory hurdles.

Apple spent years being quiet on AI while everyone else shipped. Now they've launched a rebuilt Siri, and it turns out it runs on Gemini models, something they buried in a secondary article rather than announced on stage. The core improvement is better indexing of everything in your Apple ecosystem, which makes the assistant actually useful for personal tasks rather than just web searches. It's not revolutionary. Android devices have done most of this for two years. But for iPhone users, a Siri that works is a meaningful upgrade. Whether building on someone else's model was a smart shortcut or a long-term liability, we genuinely can't tell yet. |
OpenAI Files Confidentially for IPO
OpenAI announced it has confidentially submitted an S-1 filing, the first step toward going public. The company gave no timeline and noted that some plans may be easier to execute while still private. The move follows Anthropic's similar filing last week and comes as both companies are in the middle of major product cycles. For now, Alphabet remains the only publicly traded company with a leading AI model.

One sentence announcement, maximum noise. OpenAI filed confidentially, gave no timeline, and said some things are "easier as a private company". This came a week after Anthropic did the same. Reading between the lines: both companies are racing to go public, neither wants to say so directly, and whoever gets there first will be entering the top tier of the most valuable companies ever listed. The window is closing. |
