📔 Case study: Amazon tests AI-generated summaries
Amazon is currently testing an AI-driven feature to help users find the right products more efficiently. AI-generated summaries of customer reviews provide a concise overview of the product's pros and cons based on real feedback. Since the platform has millions of products on its online store, and there can be thousands of reviews on a single item it could save a lot of time for potential buyers.
Still in its testing phase, this example illustrates how Generative AI can be harnessed to enhance customer experience on online platforms. By streamlining the decision-making process and saving time, Amazon's innovative use of AI technology aims to improve user experience and enable smarter and faster purchasing choices.
🧱 Foundational concepts: Input Representation
When Generative AI works with text, just like in the Amazon case, it needs a smart method to represent words and sentences in a way it can understand. This starts with Input Representation, where the Transformer architecture breaks text into smaller pieces called tokens and turns them into meaningful word representations. It also factors in the position of each word in the sentence. Having a clear, organized input representation allows the AI model to analyze text and perform tasks like translation or summarization more effectively.
