Hello AI Enthusiast,
This is the short version of a longer blog article. You can read the full post here.
What hitting a limit looks like
You're halfway through a task. The assistant has read your files, pulled a few numbers, drafted something useful. Then it slows down, forgets a constraint you set ten minutes ago, and tells you it can't continue. Or a message appears saying you've run out for the month.
Most people read that as one problem, so they go looking for one fix.
Two limits, two different fixes
Your usage limit is the allowance you spend across every conversation. It refills on a schedule set by your plan, and you can watch it in settings under Usage. When you hit it, you wait for the reset, buy credits, or upgrade.
Your context limit is the working memory of a single chat. There's no progress bar for it, so you notice it as symptoms: slower replies, ignored instructions, details from the start of the chat going missing. A fresh conversation is the only thing that clears it.
The same question, asked two ways
We tested this. The broad version named an entire internal knowledge hub and asked the assistant to find the right page. The narrow version named the page and pasted the link.
Both answers came back nearly identical. The broad version used roughly a quarter more of the context window, and the only difference was telling it where to look.

We explain what's happening when you send a request, the two limits people mix up, what drives most of the spend, and the habits that make an allowance last.
